Boracay is a tropical island surrounded by stunning white
sand beaches and clear blue waters. It is a breathtaking paradise abundant with
fish, sea shells and wild weeds, fruit bats blanketing the island and many
other priceless scenes.
However, in the 1990s, a waste disposal problem has been
identified and the water quality has been continuously monitored. The sludge
and sewage directly goes to the sea via pipes. This caused the spread of high
levels of ECOLI in the water which makes man no longer safe to swim. The fault
of humans who abused the tranquil beauty of nature with their mindless and
careless ways made the President
Rodrigo Duterte exclaim the island's closure, saying Boracay has become a
"cesspool" and ordered Boracay to undergo
rehabilitation for 6 months.
It was reopened to public last Oct. 26 but will still continue to be
rehabilitated until December2019. Its post-card-perfect scenery was restored,
following the strict measures imposed by the government: banning and regulating
a number of activities, from partying, drinking and dining on the beach to
building sand castles.
After months of rehabilitation, this is what
Boracay looks now. A scenic picture of a serene paradise where the blue skies
meet the sea which waves calm and sooth the soul. Visit the new Boracay now and
